How we calculate the Crunch Fit Index (CFI) score
The CFI score (0-100) is a weighted combination of six factors, designed to prioritize subnets that match Crunch's ML engineer workforce:
Task Fit is the primary differentiator, giving ML model building tasks the highest priority:
Subnets are penalized based on entry barriers: HIGH (1.0x), MEDIUM (0.85x), LOW (0.6x), VERY_LOW (0.4x)
Scores are capped by recommendation: STRONG (100), MODERATE (70), WEAK (50), AVOID (30)
🟢 Excellent (≥100k τ), 🟢 Good (≥30k τ), 🟡 Moderate (≥10k τ), 🟠Low (≥2k τ), 🔴 Very Low (<2k τ)
Some subnets (e.g., Vanta) pay miners based on performance metrics outside standard emissions. These are flagged and scored accordingly.
Subnet metrics are sourced from TaoStats API. Task classifications and Crunch fit assessments are manually researched from each subnet's GitHub repository and documentation. Scores are recalculated daily.
